Intentional Discipleship and Disciple-Making Seminar Report

The second session of the Intentional Discipleship and Disciple Making (IDDM) Seminar, centred on the theme - TEACH, was held as part of the five-fold framework: Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform, and Treasure on Friday, the 9th of May, 2025, at the Diocesan Resource Centre.

Organised by the Diocese of Delhi (CNI), the seminar was shaped by the leadership of the Rt. Revd. Dr. Paul Swarup, Bishop of the Diocese. The session saw the participation of over 80 clergy, lay leaders, and ordinands from the diocese. The day began with a time of worship, prayer, and singing led by the ordinands. Then followed the sessions, Bishop Paul Swarup conducted the teaching sessions in a scholarly yet accessible manner. His teaching was engaging and practical, drawing the participants into deeper reflection on the role of teaching in Christian discipleship.

Over the course of the two sessions, Bishop Swarup exegeted Mark 1, highlighting its theological depth and pastoral application. He guided the participants in understanding how to use the text for effective sermon preparation, providing tools to interpret Scripture faithfully and communicate it meaningfully to congregations. This was appreciated by many, especially those laity who are actively involved in preaching and teaching ministries. Lively discussions followed each session, as participants asked questions, shared experiences, and explored how to apply the insights in their ministry contexts. The session concluded with a fellowship meal, allowing continued conversation among the attendees.
You may also join us for the next session, which will be held on the 11th of July, 2025. Please get in touch with the Bishop’s office at bishopschaplain@dioceseofdelhi.org for more information.
